High-level meeting on border mining issue

By Syed Irfan Raza

ISLAMABAD, Jan 14: President General Pervez Musharraf will preside over a high-level meeting here on Monday to review a decision to fence and mine parts of Pakistan’s border with Afghanistan aimed at to stopping cross-border movement of terrorists, a well-placed source told Dawn on Sunday.

The source said Pakistan would go for other ‘options’ to control cross-border movement of terrorists instead of fencing and mining its border with Afghanistan.

“The government has put on hold the decision of mining and fencing the border due to international pressure and reservations of the Afghan government,” it said.
