Pakistan Open tennis set to begin from 17th

KARACHI, Jan 13: A sum of Rs 200,000 will be up for grabs when the Techron Pakistan Open tennis championship gets into action at the refurbished City Sports Complex from Wednesday.

Men’s singles winner will be rewarded Rs30,000 while ladies singles winner take home Rs15,000. Juniors U-17 winner will be benefited by Rs10,000.

The details of the event – first of the year – were unfolded by organisers at a press briefing on Saturday. Irfan K. Qureshi, representative of the sponsors, president organising committee, Khawaja Saeed Hai and tournament director Khalid Rehmani threw light on salient features of the competition.

The events to take place are men’s singles, ladies singles, girls U-17 singles, juniors U-17 singles, boys U-15, U-13, U-11 singles and men’s doubles.

Almost country’s all top ranking players sans Aisamul Haq, will be seen in action in the week long contest. The formal opening will be preceded by a day long qualifying round on Tuesday.

All outstation players will be paid Rs400 daily allowance until elimination.
