GUJRANWALA, Jan 13: Pakistan Peoples Party-backed Ilyas Hussain Rehan advocate defeated Muhammad Anwar Naro by 325 votes for district bar association top slot, winning the contest for second term here on Saturday.

According to results announced by election board chairman Ch. Zulfiqar Ahmad Oothi, Mr Rehan scored 737 votes while his rivals Anwar Naro and Rana Ghulam Mustafa advocates got 412 and 34 votes, respectively.

Amir Munir Bagri advocate was elected general secretary with 666 votes against Sarfraz Ahmad Butt. While, the only woman candidate, Anjum Batool Khanam, won the auditor slot with record 909 votes, defeating Ghulam Baqar Dogar by 702 votes.

DERA GHAZI KHAN: Sardar Naseem Khan Khosa of Peoples Lawyers forum was elected Dera bar president for the record seventh time while Mohammad Yaqoob Khan was elected general secretary here on Saturday.

Naseem Khosa bagged 309 votes against rival Rao Mohammad Ejaz’s 177.

VEHARI: In the district bar election, Rana Mohammad Sajid was elected president with 200 votes and Khizar Hayat Tarer secretary general with 220 votes. Both are said to be affiliated with the ruling PML.

OKARA: The DBA polls here were swept by Arain group, with the exception of secretary general’s slot on which a nominee of Rajput group was elected.

According to results, Malik Maqbool Hussain Shakir bagged 347 votes for bar president’s slot, while Sagheer Ahmed Har was elected secretary general.

MANDI BAHAUDDIN: DBA former president Safdar Nasir Warriach faced humiliating defeat in the poll for president’s slot as he could secure only 117 votes against his opponent Muzaffar Iqbal Dhudra, an independent candidate, who got 205 votes. For secretary general’s seat, Qasim Mohmood Baba bagged 197 votes while his opponent Naved Ahmed Kaddhar got only 127 votes.

LAYYAH: ARD’s candidate Shaikh Saif Ullah Saeed won the top DBA slot by only one vote as he secured 172 votes against his opponent Arshad Aslam Sehar’s 171 votes. Ghulam Murtaza won the secretary general seat by securing 219 votes, while his opponent Qazi Ahsan Ul Haq secured 119 votes.

FAISALABAD: Tanveer Ahmed Randhawa has been elected the DBA president in one-on-one competition with Nasir Ali Goraya. According to the results Randhawa defeated his rival by 12 votes. Randhawa got 656 votes while Goraya obtained 644. Touqeer Sarwar with 713 votes was elected secretary-general while his opponents Ishfaq Awan got 329 and Jamsheed Gul clinched 169 votes.

MULTAN: Muhammad Akram Bhatti has won the DBA president slot while Mumtaz Hussain Noor Tangra has become the secretary general. Bhatti got 964 votes while his rivals Najaf Chawan got 665 and Khurshid Shah got 6 votes.

BAHAWALPUR: According to the DBA poll results, Yahya khan was elected president while Imtiaz Awan was elected secretary general.
