LAHORE, Jan 11: Six-goal James Harper helped Six-T enter the final of the Warid Polo Cup thrashing Candy Land 10- 2 ½ on Thursday. Harper, a six-goal player from England, drew first blood scoring a field goal on solo efforts in the first chukker to eliminate the half-goal handicap lead of the losers.
The winners surged ahead 4- 1 ½ in the second chukker as Harper pumped in two more goals. First he banged home with a field goal and then converted a 40-yard penalty hit. Two-goal Saqib Khan Khakwani struck his first through field attempt. For the losers Abdul Haseeb Mehtha reduced the margin scoring a field goal.
Accelarating the pace of attack, the winners further consolidated the lead (7-2 ½) adding three more, all through Harper in the third chukker.
First Harper scored with angular hit from 100 yards away and then a field goal off a fine cross pass from Vishal Singh, before capitalising a 30-yard penalty hit. Haseeb scored his second and losers’ final goal.
The winners held the sway in the fourth chukker, too, as they added three goals through Shaukat Ali Malik, Kashif Jamal and Saqib to complete the tally.
