KARACHI: MA (external) results

KARACHI, Jan 11: The University of Karachi on Thursday declared results of MA (final) external examination 2005, with an overall pass percentage of 47.24. According to a KU notification, 1,407 candidates appeared in the subject of International Relations, out of which 923 were declared pass, while a minimum of four candidates appeared in the subject of Arabic, out of which three failed.

As many as 10 candidates appeared in the Mathematics subject, of which nine were declared fail. The pass percentage in the subject remained 10 per cent, which was the minimum percentage this year in MA examinations held about six and half months back.

According to KU statistics 110 candidates took the English subject examination and pass percentage remained 12.73.

As many as 726 candidates appeared in Islamic Studies subject and their pass percentage remained as 76.03, the maximum pass percentage. A total of 257 got first division in the annual examination.

The names of position holders are as follows:

Economics; Faraz Akhtar (first) Farzeen (first), Sharib Ahmed (second) and Junaiduddin (third); English: Farrah Ahmad Khan (first) and Shaista Gul (second); General History: Nazish Islam (first), Fida Mohammad (second) and Mehvish Islam (third).

International Relations: Faisal Zaman Khan (first), Imaduddin Qureshi (second) and Saad Ahmed (third); Islamic History: Hikmat Ullah (first), Nafisa Tabassum Khattak (second) and Huma Siddiqui (third); Islamic Studies: Umair Mahmood Siddiqui (first), Ulfat Gul (second) and Mohammad Habibur Rahman (third); Philosophy: Hafiz Syed Husain (first).

Political Science: Abida Perveen (first), Shaista Perveen (second) and Nazia Gull (third); Sindhi: Jamila Tabassum (first), Lata (second) and Mohammad Shamim (third); Urdu: Fahmida Rizvi (first), Rukhsana Anwar (second) and Mohammad Irfanul Haq Hashmi (third).

Results of 132 candidates were withheld for want of registration, particulars or on ground of use of unfair means in examinations, the notification said.
