Former Olympian suspended

LAHORE, Jan 10: Punjab Hockey Association (PHA) secretary and former Olympian Naveed Alam has been suspended for six months for his alleged unconstitutional acts and lack of efforts for development of the game.

PHA president Mian Imran Masood, who is also the provincial minister for education, presided over a general council meeting of the association in which the decision was taken.

“Naveed has been suspended and now the hockey affairs will be looked after by an interim secretary, Munawar Hussain Azad, a representative of the Hafizabad district hockey association,” a spokesman of the PHA said.—APP
