QUETTA, Jan 10: Activists of the Balochistan National Party’s (Mengal) women’s wing on Wednesday staged a demonstration against army operation, extra-judicial arrests and anti-Baloch development projects.

The protestors assembled outside the Quetta Press Club and chanted slogans against the government and condemned the ill-treatment of jail administrations of Karachi and Quetta with Sardar Akhtar Mengal and party workers.

The women workers criticised the government’s anti-Baloch policy and maintained that the Baloch people would continue struggle to achieve their rights.

They alleged that hundreds of innocent people were killed by the security forces in Dera Bugti and Kohlu and said that around 8,000 activists of different Baloch political parties were arrested or missing.

They said the victimisation policy of the military rulers against their political opponents was aimed at forcing the Baloch leadership to avoid opposing mega development plans, including the Gwadar project.
