KARACHI: Milk-sellers booked, jailed for overcharging

KARACHI, Jan 10: Two wholesalers were arrested and 38 retailers were booked for selling milk above than the government fixed rate of Rs28 per litre on Wednesday. According to officials, during the ongoing anti-profiteering campaign against milk-sellers, some 150 people were sent to jails and 622 retailers had been booked so far. The total amount of fine imposed on them was Rs1.154 million.

On Wednesday, officials having magisterial powers imposed fines totalling Rs76,000 on 38 shopkeepers. Two wholesalers were sent to prison for one week.

Meanwhile, the city government has closed down an illegal Bachat Bazaar in P&T Society Nasir Colony, Korangi.
