KARACHI: 59 cellphones, 28 vehicles taken away

KARACHI, Jan 9: At least 59 cellphones and 28 vehicles including 12 cars and 16 motorcycles were taken away from the city on Tuesday.

Police officials said 18 cellphones were snatched at gunpoint and 33 were reported stolen while eight handsets were reported missing.

The police said six cars were snatched at gunpoint and six were reported stolen.

Four motorcycles were snatched at gunpoint and 12 were reported stolen from different parts of the city.

HASHISH SEIZED: Police on Tuesday morning seized a huge quantity of hashish during a raid from a drug peddler’s hide out in Chanessar Goth, Mehmoodabad. The ASP Ferozabad said they acted on a tip off.

A police contingent led by ASP Ayaz Saleem raided the hide of drug peddler Hasan early on Tuesday morning. However, he managed to escape, but his accomplice, Ramzan was arrested.

The police recovered 81 kgs of hashish, 200 packets of opium. Hasan is wanted in at least 25 cases registered in different police stations, the ASP said.
