By Our Staff Reporter

KARACHI, Jan 9: City Nazim Mustafa Kamal has said that the selection of Karachi in the list of 12 mega cities of the world at the World Economic Forum (WEF) shows extraordinary potential and opportunities of trade and commerce in the city.

Speaking at a programme organised by Siemens here at a local hotel on Tuesday, he said it would be an honour for the city and its people that the WEF selected Karachi and invited him to attend the forthcoming session in Davos.

The nazim observed that his participation in the WEF, to be held from January 24, would help in effective marketing of the city at an international event.

He informed the audience that the city government was paying full attention to develop the city’s infrastructure and the work on mega projects including Elevated Expressway from Jinnah Bridge to Quaidabad, the construction of the country’s tallest building IT Tower and Call Centre and Mass Transit Corridor I would commence soon.

Mr Kamal added that foreign investment was increasing in the city and maintained that the government was also striving hard to provide maximum facilities to foreign and local investors.

Managing Director Siemens Sohail Wajahat also spoke.
