KARACHI, Jan 9: Sindh Governor Dr Ishratul Ibad on Tuesday said the present coalition in government would continue in the next general elections as every sector has made excellent progress during the last four years.

He was speaking at a luncheon hosted in honour of the National Commission for Government Reforms.

The governor said common man had been provided with basic facilities successfully and a lot of more work would be done in the coming months as the provision of facilities to the masses was a holy mission which should continue.

Ishratul Ibad said innovative changes brought during the last four years were visible and local government system was successfully functioning. He said opposition was ruling 11 districts in Sindh but the government had never interfered into their affairs rather it paid more attention to the uplift of these districts in order to run the local government system successfully.

It would be for the second time in the history of Pakistan when this political government would complete its five-year constitutional tenure, he said adding that alternative beneficiary of this success would be people.

The governor said bringing reforms in the government institutions was a big challenge but the present government was fully committed to do this job.

Sindh Home Adviser Waseem Akhter, who was also present, said bureaucrats and politicians were responsible for the wrongdoings in the state-owned institutions and there was dire need of reforms in these institutions on long-term basis.

He said bureaucrats should be properly and professionally trained so that they could perform their responsibilities without any fear or favour.

The chairman of National Commission for Government Reforms Dr Ishrat Hussain told the governor that the main aim of the commission was to restore the falling moral of government employees and serve them. He said solving problems of citizens regarding government departments was part of their agenda. He said the honest government functionaries would ultimately benefit the masses.
