ISLAMABAD, Jan 8: Information Secretary of the People’s Party Parliamentarians (PPP) Punjab and MPA Farzana Raja on Monday predicted a heavy defeat for the rulers in the next elections owing to their wrong economic policies and said the survival of the Pakistan Muslim League-Q (PML-Q) depended on Gen Musharraf’s uniform.
Speaking at a news conference with the party’s media coordinator, Nazir Dhoki, the PPP provincial leader termed the Chaudhrys of Gujrat a security risk for the country and claimed that there was a serious rift within the ruling coalition and the members had been complaining to Gen Musharraf about the attitude of PML President Chaudhry Shujaat Hussain.
Ms Raja said she had received information that Chaudhry Shujaat Hussain was about to be sent abroad for treatment purposes and some other person would be asked to lead the PML-Q.
She said the Chaudhrys had become a security risk for the country as their policies, Punjab was facing criticism from other provinces and the rulers had badly affected the provincial harmony. She said the government was promoting ‘lotacracy.’
Ms Raja said the only gift of the regime for the people was price hike. She said the life of a common man had become miserable due to unprecedented increase in the prices of essential kitchen items. She said the government had failed to check inflation.
She also criticised the provincial government for its failure to maintain law and order situation and increase in street crimes.
So much so, she said that even the DIG was not spared by the criminals in Lahore. She said the Aiwan-i-Sadr had taken notice of the loadshedding and sugar crisis, which meant that it had lost confidence on the prime minister, the chief ministers and their cabinets.
Ms Raja blasted the government for not launching any power generation project in the country in the last seven years. She also expressed her concern over the “extra judicial” disappearances of people in the recent years.
