HYDERABAD, Jan 8: Basheer Qureshi has been restored as Jeay Sindh Qaumi Mahaz chairman and the chairman of its organising committee, Shafi Mohammad Karnani, has resigned from the post.
This was said by committee members Mohammad Rahimoon and Sarfaraz Memon at a news conference at the press club on Monday. They said that that the central committee of the party had also been restored.
They said that a meeting of the national congress of the party would be convened soon and the party matters would be placed before it.
Answering a question, Mr Rahimoon said that Mr Karnani had resigned from the chairmanship of the organising committee, and held another member of the committee, Serai Qurban Khuhawar, responsible for creating rift in the party.
Yet another member Ali Hassan Chandio was not present at the press conference whereas Dr Safdar Sarki has been picked up by intelligence agencies.
Answering another question, Mr Rahimoon said that Mr Qureshi had voluntarily resigned after Abdul Wahid Arisar levelled allegations against him. However, he said, the allegations had proved baseless after an inquiry and explanation of Mr Qureshi.
Mr Rahimoon and Mr Memon criticised the role of Mr Arisar and said that he had harmed the party. However, they said that Mr Arisar was still an ideologue and member of the party and G. M. Syed council.
They said that Dr Sarki was held in high esteem by the party.
They said that the birth anniversary of G. M. Syed would be observed in a befitting manner.
JOB QUOTA: District Naib Nazim Zafar Rajput has said that government and private institutions should fix job quota for women on the patter of their representation in assemblies so to ensure economic empowerment of women.
He was speaking at a seminar on “Women’s rights in Pakistan” organised by the ministry of labour, manpower and overseas Pakistanis and directorate of workers’ education in collaboration with the Fundamental Rights Commission Pakistan at the directorate in Latifabad on Monday.
Mr Rajput said that unless empowerment of women was achieved, the rights of women could not be protected. He said that poverty and illiteracy were main factors behind increase in gender discrimination and added that it could be eliminated through education, awareness and more employment opportunities for women.
