Multan eye big win: Quaid-i-Azam Trophy Silver League
By Our Sports Correspondent
LAHORE, Jan 7: Multan were in sight of an innings victory after Quetta were forced to follow-on in the Quaid-i-Azam Trophy Silver League fixture at the Multan Cricket Stadium on Sunday.
Replying to Multan’s mammoth first-innings tally of 524 for seven declared, Quetta were shot for 132 with pacer Azharullah picking up four for 36.
The visitors, however, made a better start in their second knock to end the day at 31 without loss. But they still need 361 to avoid the impending innings defeat.
Earlier, Multan resumed at 372 for three but quickly lost the overnight pair of Usman Tariq and Kamran Hussain. Usman added just one to his score of 154 while Kamran went for 156 after adding 10 runs. Both fell to Quetta skipper Faisal Irfan who finished with six for 103 with his right-arm medium-pacers.
But useful knocks from Kashif Naved (57 not out) and Mohammad Irshad (44 not out) further demoralized Quetta.
