PESHAWAR, Jan 6: Jinnah Club defeated Warsak Club 3-2 in a thrilling match of the National NWFP Inter-Club Hockey Championship here at the Lala Ayub Hockey Stadium on Saturday.

Forwards of both the teams raided each other’s territory repeatedly as some fine moves were witnessed.

Though not being familiar with the artificial turf, still Warsak Club’s frontline players gave highly tough time to Jinnah Club, taking a 2-0 lead by the time the first half ended.

Warsak Club opened their account in the fifth minute through inside-left Mohammad Saleem Khan on the field attempt. Saleem got a long hit sent in by right fullback Mohammad Abrar at the centre line and zoomed in quickly into the danger zone from where Saleem dodged three defenders before scoring his team’s first goal.

Warsak doubled the lead in the 24th minute when Shakir slammed in a beautiful goal from the top of the circle.

In the second half, Jinnah staged a fine comeback, scoring three consecutive goals in the 37th, 42nd and 55th minutes to make it 3-2 in the end. Nazim, Musawir Khan and Mohammad Ayub scored one goal each for the winners.—APP
