Atif, Afaq send Abbottabad on leather hunt

ISLAMABAD, Jan 6: Islamabad sent Abbottabad on a leather hunt by reaching 350 for one on the opening day of the Quaid-i-Azam Trophy Silver League match at the Diamond Club Ground on Saturday.

Atif Ashraf hammered an unbeaten 177 while fellow opener Afaq Raheem compiled 121 after Abbottabad won the toss and invited the home side to bat first.

Bilal Asad was 31 not out by the close of the day's play. Atif’s brilliant knock contained 24 fours and one six while his partnership with Afaq was worth 285 in 276 minutes.

Former Pakistan seamer Sajid Shah claimed the lone success with the ball on a placid wicket.
