Vaughan set to become captain

SYDNEY, Jan 6: England captain Michael Vaughan, who has not played a first-class game for past several months due to his knee injury, is reportedly fit and set to take over from Andrew Flintoff.

While England lost their fifth Ashes Test in a row on Friday, Vaughan played for MCC 60 miles south of Sydney in Bowral, home town of Sir Don Bradman.

He scored 27 in a one-day game against a team of grade-level cricketers and took one for 14 in six overs.

Now, he looks sure to replace Flintoff as captain in Tuesday's Twenty20 clash with Australia in Sydney and upcoming triangular ODI series also involving New Zealand, reported Daily Mail.—Agencies
