MULTAN, Jan 6: Police arrested nine more accused involved in a case of chopping off ears, a nose and a limb of two brothers and their mother. Police sources said that a total of 15 accused had so far been arrested while the two others — Muhammad Shafi and Nazar — are on pre-arrest interim bails.

Alpa police arrested Akram, Shaukat, Manzoor and Aslam on Friday and they would be produced before court on Monday. Muhammad Zafar, Malik Javed Iqbal, Allah Ditta, Aqeel and Khizir were arrested on Thursday while Muhammad Ashraf, Muhammad Khan, Ghulam Qasim, Bashir, Punnu and Muhammad Rafique were arrested on Wednesday.

These 11 accused were produced in the Anti-Terrorism Court No 1 on Thursday and Friday and police had secured their physical remand for the recovery of weapons. All the accused would again be produced before the court on Jan 8.

The accused had attacked Muhammad Iqbal, his brother Yasin and mother Manzooran for they were nurturing a grudge against them after Iqbal contracted a love marriage with a girl of the accused family.

Police had registered a case against 29 accused, including 22 nominated.
