LARKANA, Jan 5: Leaders of Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) dismissed reports of a ‘deal’ with the government as propaganda in their speeches to different gatherings across the province held on Friday to mark the 79th birthday anniversary of late prime minister and founder of the party Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto.

The speakers said that late Bhutto made Pakistan impregnable by initiating plans for achieving a nuclear deterrent in the face of strong opposition from world powers.

He gave the country a unanimously passed constitution and strived for forging unity among Muslim countries and the third world, a move which they said made him highly unacceptable to world powers.

In Larkana, the birthplace of late Bhutto, PPP Sindh President Syed Qaim Ali Shah, leader of opposition in Sindh Assembly Nisar Ahmed Khuhro, deputy parliamentary leader in National Assembly Syed Khursheed Ahmed Shah, deputy general sectary central Taj Haider, Pir Mazharul Haq and district president Ayaz Soomro said that the establishment had tried its best to make cracks in PPP. Now it (establishment) had planted its agents among the rank and file of the party to break it apart, they claimed.

They claimed that imperialist and capitalist forces had their leader killed and said that Ms. Benazir Bhutto’s presence in the country was a must for the solidarity of Pakistan.

They said that the Bhutto’s party would sweep upcoming general elections and Ms Benazir Bhutto would be among her people in the next birthday anniversary of her father.

HYDERABAD: Former federal minister and senator Syed Ali Nawaz Shah said while addressing a function at the local press club that PPP had deep roots in masses.

PPP MNA Ameer Ali Shah Jamote said that late Bhutto would always remain alive in the hearts of people for his courage in the face of tyranny and dictatorship.

PPP District President Zahid Bhurgri claimed that Quaid-i-Azam created Pakistan in 1947 while Quaid-i-Awam saved it in 1971 from further disintegration.

He warned rulers not to create hurdles to Ms Benazir Bhutto’s return otherwise they would be have nowhere to flee when people came after them.

TANDO MOHAMMAD KHAN: District Bar Association Tando Mohammad Khan organised late Bhutto’s birthday anniversary at the bar office. In another function held at Bukhari House PPP district leaders paid tributes to their leader.

THATTA: Speakers called for the return of all the exiled political leaders and restoration of provincial autonomy as envisaged in the 1973 Constitution.

MPA Sassui Palijo, Ghulam Qadir Palijo and Sattar Lohar lashed out at the present government and demanded through a resolution withdrawal of cases against Ms. Benazir Bhutto.

NAWABSHAH: PPP and PPP-SB leaders who organised separate birthday functions vowed to continue struggle for upholding the principles of their leader.

District leaders of PPP and PPP-SB said that late Bhutto was a great leader who sacrificed his life for the country.

KHAIRPUR: Former district nazim Nafisa Shah said after cutting cake at Jilani House that party workers had emerged victorious from the worst kind of political victimisation. Another birthday function was held at Wassan House.

MIRPURKHAS: District PPP celebrated their leaders’ birth anniversary amid vows to remain steadfast in the face of persecution. The party also held functions in Tharparkar, Umerkot, Digri, Jhuddo and Naukot.

SHIKARPUR: PPP cultural wing organised a function to mark the birth anniversary of their leader at Qazi House, in which party leaders Aftab Shaban Mirani and others participated.

PPP-SB’s function was participated by Amir Bux Bhutto, Mir Ahmed Brohi and Faqeer Saeed Ahmed Soomro.

DADU: PPP and PPP-SB cut cakes to mark the birthday anniversary of their leader. PPP-SB cut cake in a function at the party’s district office and PPP leaders cut theirs in the party’s city office.
