India-WI one-dayer may be rescheduled

VADODARA (India), Jan 4: The fourth and final One-day International between India and West Indies, at IPCL ground on Jan 30, is likely to be rescheduled and held next day as it would coincide with Muharram.

“We have received a request from Baroda Cricket Association to postpone it by a day as police told BCA they are not in position to spare police personnel for duty at ground as Muharram falls on Jan 30,” the Indian cricket board secretary Niranjan Shah said.

“We have informed West Indies board accordingly and awaiting a reply. They will need to change West Indies team's travel schedule as this is last match of series, but that should not be a problem,” Shah said.

West Indies arrive on Jan 18 to play four-match ODI series against India commencing with first match at Nagpur on Jan 21. The second and third matches are at Cuttack (Jan 24) and Chennai (Jan 27).—Agencies
