SC seeks list of ad hoc appointments

QUETTA, Jan 4: The Supreme Court on Thursday ordered the Balochistan High Court’s registrar to provide a list of all ad hoc appointments of lower court judges made during the past two years within 24 hours.

The two-member bench, comprising Justice Javed Iqbal and Justice Raja Fayyaz Ahmed, ordered the registrar while hearing the petition filed by Ghulam Azam.

The court expressed dissatisfaction when Balochistan’s advocate-general informed the court that the required list pertaining to the ad hoc appointments of sessions, additional sessions, civil and family judges and judicial magistrates.

Ghulam Azam has challenged the cancellation of his candidature for interview of sessions judge by the Balochistan Public Service Commission despite having passed the written test.

The petitioner had filed a petition in the SC after it was dismissed by the Balochistan High Court.—Correspondent
