KARACHI, Jan 4: Muttahida Majlis-i-Amal MPAs Nasrullah Khan Shaji, Hameedullah Khan and Yunus Barai have termed the increase in the prices of essential items as proof of the anti-people policies by the rulers .

They said, in a statement, that despite tall claims of elimination of poverty, the entire country was facing poverty, inflation and the scourge of unemployment.

He pointed out that despite government announcements to provide relief to the people on the advent of Ramadan and on the eve of Eid-ul-Azha, not only had the prices not come down but people had been further burdened.

Expressing concern at the increase in the rates of LPG gas, after the hike in petroleum prices, he said the rulers by repeatedly increasing gas prices had added to the miseries of the poor people.

They warned if farmers were not paid appropriate prices for sugarcane, there were chances another sugar crisis would break out.
