KARACHI: Record uplift in last four years: minister
KARACHI, Jan 4: Sindh Minister for Labour, Transport, Industries and Commerce Adil Siddiqui has said that record development work had been carried out during the tenure of the present democratic government, and added that the provincial government will continue to serve people with the same zeal for the country’s progress.
Speaking on the occasion of the completion of his four-year tenure as minister here on Thursday, he said that after assuming the charge, he made his best efforts to ensure completion of all uplift schemes on time for the welfare of people, especially the labour class.
The minister termed his tenure ‘successful’, and said that it was the result of the spirit and struggle on the part of his staff. He said that he was lucky to have such an honest and hardworking team.
Mr Siddiqui pointed out that law and order in the entire province was satisfactory due to the government’s policies which had not only improved the city’s image but also led to an increase in the investment in Sindh.
The minister said that during his four-year tenure, wages of the employees had been raised and more incentives were provided to them.
He said that establishment of the Medical and Dental College, setting up of Kidney Center, spending of Rs2.1 billion on medical and other facilities, allocation of 30 acres for the small industrial estate for women industrialists at Northern Bypass, efforts for the revival of Karachi Circular Railway and banning smoke-emitting vehicles were some of the steps taken to provide facilities to masses.—PPI
