KARACHI, Jan 4: The Pakistan Peoples Party Deputy Secretary General Mian Raza Rabbani , who is also Leader of the Opposition in the Senate, has condemned the increase in the prices of bread (roti), milk and LPG and observed that the government’s economic policies had made the life of poor people miserable to the extent that it had become difficult for them to make both ends meet.

Demanding withdrawal of the price increase he said that the price spiral had made it difficult for a worker earning Rs4,000 per month to run his house. He said milk and bread were basic necessities and by raising one rupee in the price of bread and four rupees per litre on milk was proof the government was still pursuing its anti-people policy .

He said that the government had broken all records of resorting to price hike and using every tactic to deprive the people of their bread and butter while pursuing a policy of protecting the privileged class.

Mr Rabbani termed the seven year rule of this government as the worst political period in the country in which poor people were deprived of their homes and bread. He said the country had been turned into a market for foreign goods at the cost of the national economy.
