Kidnappers arrested

By Our Reporter

LAHORE, Dec 31: Police claimed on Sunday to have arrested four people, including two women, involved in kidnapping of a four-year-old boy in the Defence area and recovered Rs2.3 million ransom money from them.

Accused Imran Arshad along with accomplices had kidnapped Amir Mustafa from the Z-Block children park in Defence on Dec 22 for a Rs5 million ransom.

A joint team of Civil Lines and Iqbal Town SPs and Cantonment SP (investigation), led by DIG (operations) Amir Zulfikar, arrested the culprits from their Cavalry Ground rented house on a tip-off.

The accused were identified as Imran, his wife Lubna, sister-in-law Ayesha and stepbrother Asif alias Bablu while their two accomplices are still absconders.

The accused had come to Lahore from Quetta some two months back.

Mustafa’s father Nasir Ahmad, a resident of the Army Housing Society, Nishat Colony, and a real estate agent by profession, had advertised in the media on Dec 24 about his son’s kidnapping and a reward of Rs500,000 for the informer after which the accused contacted the family by phone and settled the ransom amount.

The accused had released Mustafa some four days back after getting Rs2.5 million on Ghazi Road in Phase-6, Defence.
