By Our Staff Reporter

KARACHI, Dec 30: City Nazim Mustafa Kamal said that a plan to maintain cleanliness and prompt disposal of offal and animals’ waste during Eidul Azha had been finalised and arrangements had also been completed at town and UC levels.

Speaking at a press conference at his office on Saturday, he said that the plan was made in consultation with all town administrations, KWSB and other departments of the city government.

Mr Kamal informed that the city government had hired 2,000 pick-ups, 100 dumpers and other machinery for offal lifting and it would clean all places and sprinkle limestone following slaughtering of sacrificial animals. He said that the city government would distribute the vehicles in all UCs to help them in removing offal.

He said the UCs would be responsible to collect offal at transfer stations, which were made in all towns. With the help of trucks and dumpers the town and UC staff would remove offal from transfer stations to dispose them at trenches prepared in every town.

Regarding fumigation, the nazim said that a motorcycle squad would carry out fumigation in the city and would also inform the staff concerned about non-lifting of offal in their respective jurisdiction.

He said that leaves of officials concerned and staff of municipal services department, KWSB, towns and solid waste management have been cancelled and they would perform their duties on Sunday as well.

The nazim appealed to citizens to lodge their complaints on toll free number 0800-12012, Central Control Room 9230060, Help Line 134, DCO Camp Office Control Room 9205631 and 9205644.
