KARACHI, Dec 29: Having won four races on trot, four-year-old chestnut colt Terrorist is again fancied to end the year on a winning note by claiming the feature event in the Gymkhana race meeting at the Karachi Racecourse on Saturday.

Being the last race meeting of 2006, it will also determine the “Best Rider of the Year” and “Best Trainer of the Year”.

Terrorist had stretched his winning run by capturing The Christmas Cup following a facile nine lengths victory on Monday.

The five furlongs feature event has attracted 10 horses barring last minute withdrawls. The Concord and Arab Hi Arab look certain to settle for the next two places.

A card of nine races – first seven going over a distance of five furlongs and the rest to four – have been drawn for the day. The first race begins at 12.00noon.

Terrorist’s stable-mate two-year-old bay filly Phapha Kutni is poised to make amends by picking up spoils in the supporting event.

She is pitted alongside six contenders in the five furlongs race. Her likely challengers are filly Patricia from the same connection and filly Queen Of Mirwa. Another filly Voo Doo Doll who is fine trim may also deliver the goods.

After losing to mare Ouija Board in the last meeting, Al Zarrar is tipped to oblige punters by sprinting to victory in the top division of class VII. He should be opposed by Kat Mandu and Sweet Touch who are the two form horses in the pack of 13 runners.

Four-year-old bay colt, Tharkyee, who finished good second after a long lay off in the last run, is likely to dominate the field of nine contestants. He should be chased by Air Supply and Birj-ul-Arab.

Three-year-old dark bay filly, Jan-e-Mun, who failed to finish on the board in the last meeting look certain to finish ahead of opponent’s among 10 contestants.

Three-year-old bay filly, Foolish Pleasure, who was beaten by Silver City by three lengths on Dec 25 may atone to the loss by crossing the finishing line ahead of Make Millions and Juliat.

The race has the biggest field of 17 contestants barring last minute withdrawls.

King Of The Ring, Jet Zone and Silent Love are likely to rule their respective races.

Race goers have expressed dismay to conduct the last two division V class VII races to four furlongs instead of five. This has never happened before in the same division and class and looks odd in winter, they alleged.
