KARACHI, Dec 29: The adviser to prime minister on energy, Mukhtar Ahmed, on Thursday evening said that in order to meet the rising demand of energy in the country, the government was providing incentives and facilities to the LPG industry.

Talking to a delegation of the LPG Association of Pakistan, he said that not only burden on national economy could be reduced by using LPG as alternate source of energy but it would also help reducing air pollution.

He also appreciated holding of first national conference on LPG scheduled on January 11, 2007 in Islamabad and also ensured all-out support in this regard.

The adviser said that LPG had become an important source of energy and was also approved as auto gas which would soon be widely used in transport sector.

Various other issues and initiatives being taken by the government were also discussed.—PPI
