Two more scheduled banks

KARACHI, Dec 29: The State Bank has announced to list two more banks as scheduled banks from December 30, 2006.

The central bank issued notification on Friday saying that it had directed the de-scheduling of American Express Bank Limited (Pakistan Branches) with effect from December 30, 2006 on account of its merger with and into JS Bank Limited. The SBP has cancelled the banking licence of American Express Bank Limited (Pakistan Branches).

The SBP also declared JS Bank Limited as a scheduled bank from December 30, 2006,” said a separate notification.

It directed the de-scheduling of Union Bank Limited with effect from the close of business on Friday, on account of its merger with and into Standard Chartered Bank (Pakistan) Limited

Standard Chartered Bank (Pakistan) Limited has been declared a scheduled bank from December 30, 2006.
