Quarterly report of CBR still awaited

By Our Reporter

ISLAMABAD, Dec 28: The Central Board of Revenue (CBR) has failed to release its first quarterly (July-Sept) report for fiscal 2006-07 even after almost three months of the second quarter.

An official told this correspondent on Thursday that the report was scheduled to be released in October 2006 or with a maximum delay of one month in November but it did not appear despite hiring a member from the private sector along with subordinate staff.

The CBR had appointed a member for fiscal research and statistics on MP-1 scale with a responsibility to produce quarterly report, analysing various taxes. He was assisted by five senior tax officials, who were given double salaries unlike other tax officials.
