Naved, Rehman leave SA tour camp

By Our Sports Correspondent

LAHORE, Dec 28: Medium-pacer Rana Naved-ul-Hasan and left-arm spinner Abdur Rehman on Thursday did not attend the training camp, set up for the forthcoming tour of South Africa at the Gaddafi Stadium due to different reasons.

Navid had to leave for home after hearing his wife is ill.

Naved, who staged a brilliant comeback in the one-day series at home against West Indies in the winter in which he was declared the Man of the Series, however, told Dawn that he would rejoin the camp on Friday.

“My wife’s illness is not very serious and she is better and I will be back in the camp on Friday,” Naved said.

Meanwhile, Abdur Rehman, who will be getting married this week, also left the camp.

The camp will end on Saturday and the selected team, which is likely to be announced on Friday, will leave for South Africa on Jan 3.

The South African High Commission in Pakistan will host a function in honour of the Pakistan team at a local hotel on Friday.
