ABBOTTABAD, Dec 28: Two tax facilitation centres, set up by the regional tax unit, have started functioning in Haripur and Mansehra. The centres will provide help to consumers in matters relating to income tax, sales tax and excise department under one roof.

Abbottabad RTU director-general Asad Ali Jan said that the centres would be equipped with computers to provide online filing and settlement facilities to taxpayers in Hazara.

He said the centres’ basic aim was to restore the confidence of taxpayers in the government and get the economy documented which would help planners put it on the right track.

The DG said that highly-skilled staff was selected for the RTU and they were being given training at workshops and seminars.

He said that under the tax reform policy discretion powers of officials had been curtailed and due respect would be given to clients.
