Lawyers concerned at kidnapping

By Our Correspondent

KHAIRPUR, Dec 28: The People’s Lawyers Forum (PLF), district Khairpur chapter, took out a rally here on Thursday to protest against kidnapping of Rashid Ali, a practicing lawyer and son of Maulana Azizullah Bohio, provincial general secretary of PONM.

The rally led by PLF Sukkur president, Liaquat Shar, marched from court building and after parading on different roads of the city converged outside the press club.

Speaking on the occasion, Liaquat Shar, Sher Mohammad Shaikh and Abdul Qayoom Shaikh, said that supremacy of law gets destroyed when lawyers come out on roads in protest. They said that earlier an advocate was killed in court premises in Larkana in broad daylight but the accused could not be arrested.

They added that another lawyer was killed by his rivals in his house in Umerkot. They said that the kidnapping of Rashid Ali Bohio was not incidental but target one.

SALU: The Jeay Sindh Students Federation and Shagird Ittehad observed a token hunger strike outside the press club here on Thursday against the administration of Shah Abdul Latif University (SALU).

Speaking on the occasion, JSSF SALU president, Akbar Makol and vice president Ayaz Sehto, said that university administration and police have threatened the students of lodging fake cases against them besides banning their entry into the university.

They added that earlier the SALU administration had agreed to solve students problems and fulfil their demands including withdrawal of term-back policy, provision of better transport facility, reduction in fees, and an end to intervention of police and rangers in the university.

They raised slogans against police and SALU administration. Among others, Farhan Latif Memon, Noor Mohammad Panhiar and Waheed Pathan also spoke on the occasion.
