KARACHI: 3 officials held for forging documents

By Our Staff Reporter

KARACHI, Dec 28: Three government servants, including an excise official, were arrested on Thursday for their alleged involvement in producing fake number plates, files and registration books for vehicles.

An official of the ACLC said that Amanullah Qazi, a clerk in the Excise Department, was involved in selling files of the newly-registered vehicles that were transported to Punjab or Sindh interior.

For transporting a vehicle to such destinations, the required NOC is issued by the Excise Department. Police said that Qazi had been selling off files of such vehicles and this had resulted in presence of two vehicles with same particulars either in one or both the provinces.

The ACLC official said that Qazi’s alleged accomplices, Qayyum Solangi, a clerk in the Services and General Administration Department, and his brother, Arif Solangi, a government school teacher, had been producing fake registration books and number plates for such vehicles.

Police said that raids were being conducted for the arrest of three other suspects in the racket. They were identified as Zafar, Sajid and Saeed Solangi.
