KARACHI, Dec 28: Sindh Adviser for Home Wasim Akhtar has said the present government wants to do away with the politics of vengeance and bring a change to the system.

He said that process for recruitment in Sindh police would begin soon and after its accomplishment, measures would be taken to overcome the shortage of court police.

He was speaking on the occasion of inauguration of the newlyconstructed main entrance of the district jail in Malir and visitors’room on Thursday.

The adviser said that reforms were being introduced in Sindh’sprisons and throughout Sindh new prisons were in the stages ofconstruction and completion after which more facilities would be available for prisoners.

He said that soon the salaries of policemen posted in jails would be brought at par with district police personnel.

Wasim Akhtar said that a request had been made to the vice-chancellorsof Karachi for a series of lectures by a team of psychiatrists for prison inmates.

After the inauguration of the prison's main entrance and visitors’ room, the Saiban Welfare Association, during the adviser's address, announced to pay fine for prisoners to be released on the occasion of Eidul Azha.
