KARACHI, Dec 27: A banned organisation, Hizb ul-Tahrir has opposed General Pervez Msuhsrraf's four point proposal for resolution of the core issue of Kashmir with India. The outfit called it an act of treachery and said it was tantamount to accepting the Indian position on the dispute.
The HT spokesman for Pakistan, Naved Butt, said his organisation held countrywide seminars at which their party, as well as others rejected the proposed four points. They reminded the people that 70,000 Muslims had sacrificed their lives for freedom and not for joint-control or making the LoC irrelevant.
They declared joint-control of Kashmir as the first step towards Akhand Bharat (Greater India). They were of the view that the proposal of joint control amounted to handing over AJK and the Northern Areas to India.
They also claimed that the UN was nothing but a tool in the hands of the West and therefore, would never resolve the issue justly.
