HYDERABAD, Dec 27: Sindh will produce 20,000 bales of clean cotton of grade-2 during the cotton season 2006-07. This was revealed at a meeting of the representatives of the textile ministry, TCP, ginners, Cotton Standard Institute and Agriculture Extension department.

The meeting was chaired by Sindh secretary of agriculture in his office, a spokesman of Sindh agriculture department said here on Wednesday.

The meeting observed that despite rains and bad weather conditions, the province had done well to produce contamination free cotton.

It was further revealed that apart from grade-II cotton, the growers also supplied clean cotton to the ginneries, which is a promising sign for the future of quality cotton.

The meeting decided that more organised efforts should be made next year in order to achieve better results.

The meeting was informed that the media campaign launched by the agriculture department to promote production of clean cotton created awareness among the farmers and the ginners. —APP
