Governor visits govt offices

SIALKOT, Dec 26: Punjab Governor Khalid Maqbool on Tuesday visited SNGPL, Gepco, EOBI offices, Khushhali and Zarai Taraqqiyati banks amid tight security during heavy rain.

He was briefed about the performance of federal government departments.

He listened to public complaints at an open court at Anwar Club Auditorium, Sialkot and issued orders on various applications. District nazim Muhammad Akmal Cheema, Punjab Power Minister Chaudhry Armaghan Subhani, MPAs Khush Akhtar Subhani, Mumtaz Ali and Shehla Shahid Butt were also present on this occasion.

Later talking to newsmen, the governor said Gujranwala Electric Power Company would soon establish two new 132kv grid stations — one each at Ghunky-Daska and Badian-Pasrur — with a total cost of Rs400 million.

He said the government was spending Rs830 million on the construction of Sialkot-Sambrial-Wazirabad Road, Rs600 million on Sialkot-Eimanabad Road and Rs220 million on Sialkot Head Marala Road.

He said the government would also establish three international standard universities here in active collaboration with Sweden and Germany.

APP adds from Faisalabad: Governor Khalid Maqbool will pay a two-day visit to Faisalabad on Dec 27 to 28.

The governor as chancellor of the Agriculture University in Faisalabad will review various research programmes, in addition to visiting main library, faculties of agriculture, agriculture engineering and technology and veterinary sciences and institute of food, science and technology.

He will visit hostels and sports grounds and witness various games besides participating in tennis on Wednesday.

Vice Chancellor Prof Dr Bashir Ahmad will brief the governor at the syndicate room of the university.

On Dec 28, the governor will visit the faculty of sciences, division of education and extension and postgraduate agricultural research station on Jhang Road. He will also inaugurate a satellite large animal teaching-cum-research hospital.
