Two bikers killed

SHEIKHUPURA, Dec 26: Two motorcyclists were killed by a speeding truck on Sheikhupura-Faisalabad Road near Ferozewattwan on Tuesday.

Sikandar Ali and Sarfraz were on way to Sheikhupura from Mananwala. Near Ferozewattwan, a speeding truck hit their bike, killing them on the spot. The truck driver managed to escape. Bhikhi police impounded the truck and started investigations.

GENERAL HOLDUP: Sheikhupura Range police on Tuesday arrested 422 anti-social elements, including 128 proclaimed offenders, 32 drug traffickers, and recovered valuables and illicit weapons from their possession during four-hour general hold-up. On the special direction of DIG Muhammad Anwar Virk, Sheikhupura, Nankana Sahib, Kasur and Okara police have set up SOS pickets on main and links road in their respective areas to nab culprits.

Mr Virk told this correspondent that the Sheikhupura district police arrested 79 criminals, including six drug pushers, nine proclaimed offenders, four court absconders, 60 criminals with illicit weapons and recovered 190 gram heroin, 123 gram hashish and 11 litre liquor. The police unearthed four running distilleries and seized machinery worth Rs4 million.

He said the Nankana district police arrested 20 POs, eight court absconders, 15 drug peddlers, and 123 outlaws with as many weapons.

The Kasur police arrested 81 outlaws, including 18 POs, 27 court absconders, seven drug traffickers, and 29 men with as many weapons and recovered 580 gram hashish from their possession, he said.

The Okara district police arrested 33 POs, nine court absconders, four drug pushers and 50 criminals with illicit weapons and recovered 10 buffaloes, a cow, two goats, two cars, five motorcycles, and a motorcycle-rickshaw from their possession.
