Dollar higher against euro

PARIS, Dec 26: The dollar edged up on the euro on Tuesday in sluggish trading, with European stock exchanges on holiday and as dealers turned their attention to US economic data to be released later in the week.

The single European currency in early afternoon trading was at $1.3139 against $1.3141 late Friday in New York.

The dollar was meanwhile being traded at 118.85 yen, just up from 18.75 on Friday.

Traders are now expected take direction from upcoming US economic reports, starting with sales of new homes in November on Wednesday followed Thursday by November sales of existing homes and the Conference Board's consumer confidence index.

Friday will bring an assessment of industrial activity in the Chicago area.
