Pre-Haj operation complete

LAHORE, Dec 24: The pre-Haj operation will be completed when a special Haj flight carrying last batch of 433 hujjaj will leave here for Saudi Arabia at 2am on Monday (today).

The director Haj Lahore, Muhammad Farough Aftab Zaidi, said the pre-Haj operation had been completed smoothly and no untoward incident occurred during the Haj operation started from Nov 25.

He said that about 37,738 hujjaj departed from Lahore for Saudi Arabia to discharge their religious obligation. A total of 91 special Haj flights, including 82 of PIA and nine of Saudi Airlines, airlifted about 31,738 intending pilgrims during a month Haj operation.

He said that some 150,000 intending pilgrims left for Saudi Arabia, of them 75,000 under the government scheme and the rest under the private scheme.

About the post-Haj operation, he said the first flight with 433 hujjaj will arrive here on Jan 4, 2007 at 2pm from Saudi Arabia.—APP
