RAWALPINDI, Dec 23: A medical professor at the Rawalpindi Medical College (RMC) committed suicide after killing the secretary of a housing society and injuring another person apparently over a property dispute on Saturday.

According to the police, Dr Tariq Mehmood had a dispute with Gulshanabad Housing Scheme secretary over the purchase of a house.

Quoting the injured Tanveer Alam, the police said after coming out of the washroom, the doctor pulled out his pistol and targeted the secretary from behind, killing him on the spot.

Tanveer Alam, a member of the housing society, sitting beside the secretary was hit on the legs. The doctor then turned his pistol on himself and committed suicide.

The police said the weapon used in the crime had been seized and a few currency notes were also found from the doctor’s pocket.

Two days later, the police were informed that the family of the missing boy had received a telephone call from Mohmand Agency, and the caller had demanded Rs1 million ransom for the boy’s release.

The police took one of his cousins Jehangir into custody on suspicion. During interrogation, he revealed that he had kidnapped Waqar and killed him the same day. He then dumped his body in a well.

The police fished out the body and handed it over to the victim’s family.

Abdul Rauf, the father of the deceased, has been living in Saudi Arabia.
