70 Indian prisoners freed

LAHORE, Dec 23: Pakistan released 70 Indian prisoners, including 50 fishermen, from Kot Lakhpat Jail and handed them over to the Indian authorities at the Wagah Border on Saturday.

The Indian prisoners were arrested by the local law enforcers for crossing over the border. The Ansar Burni Trust transported them at Wagah where they were given emergency visas issued by the Indian Embassy in Islamabad. The Edhi Foundation served meal to the prisoners.

Meanwhile, Edhi spokesman said 19 out of the 54 recently-released Pakistani prisoners were being kept at Edhi Homes here and provided with medical aid, food and clothes. —Reporter
