MIRPURKHAS: Education, health a priority: governor

MIRPURKHAS, Dec 23: Sindh Governor Dr Ishratul Ibad has said that the government is trying to provide health and education facilities to the masses and completion of the building of the Board of Intermediate and Secondary Education Mirpurkhas is an example of government efforts in this direction.
He was speaking at the inaugural ceremony of the newly-constructed BISE building on Saturday. Sindh Assembly Speaker Syed Muzaffar Hussain Shah, Provincial Minister for Excise and Taxation Shabbir Ahmed Kaimkhani, Provincial Minister for Local Government Mohammad Hussain and MPA Ponjomal were present.
The governor said that they had identified the problems of secondary education by collecting basic data of all the schools and added that the government was establishing schools at higher and lower levels.
He said that reforms were being carried out in the education boards to provide more facilities to the students. He said that the government wanted the masses to be prosperous and it was striving to alleviate poverty from the country.
Mr Ibad said that sports events of international level would be held in Mirpurkhas soon.
POSITION HOLDERS: The governor announced Rs20,000 prize each for six position holders of the Mirpurkhas board --- Mohammed Danial Memon, Mohammed Tariq Shaikh, Abbas Ali Maher, Pardeep Kumar, Shumaila Ansari and Warda Gill. He also announced Rs20,000 prize for the stage secretary of the ceremony and one increment for the employees of the BISE.
Speaking on the occasion, Sindh Assembly Speaker Shah said that the 50-year old demand of the area people had been met by the government by establishing the BISE.
Excise and Taxation Minister Kaimkhani said that the board building was constructed and equipped at a cost of Rs9 millions.
ROAD REBUILDING PROMISED: Hyderabad-Umerkot road via Mirpurkhas will be rebuilt and widened and work on the project will start soon.
This was said by the governor at the inauguration ceremony of a private institute, the Nazeer Hussain Institute of Emerging Sciences, in the Satellite Town.
Founder of the institute, Rais Ahmed Khan, said that the institute had been named after the father of Altaf Hussain, the leader of the Muttahida Qaumi Movement.
