Skill development centres

ISLAMABAD, Dec 22: National Assembly Standing Committee on Industries, Production and Special Initiatives has recommended setting up of skill development centres and vocational training institutes for quality control and technical upgradation of local products.

The committee meeting presided over by MNA Malik Niaz Ahmed Jakhar on Friday also called for bringing the volume of exports on a par with that of imports.

The committee appreciated the efforts of the state engineering corporation for manufacturing heavy machinery and electric transformers in the country. It also appreciated the process of privatisation of various industrial units.

The meeting was attended by Omer Ayub Khan, Riffat Javed Kahloon, Malik Mohammad Saifullah Khan, Azhar Ahmed and Mohammad Parvez Qureshi.—Our Reporter
