By Our Correspondent

GUJRANWALA, Dec 22: The Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) claimed to have arrested 516 human agents besides registration 1,510 cases and completing 2,142 inquiries against the accused during the first 10 months of the current year in Gujranwala region.

This was stated by FIA additional director Naeem Akram Bharoka and deputy director Aqeel Qureshi here on Friday.

They said that some 6,000 people had so far been deported from different countries during the current year as against previous year’s 15,000.

FIA officials revealed that Rs35 million recovered from the arrested human agents were already returned to the affected people. They pledged that the crackdown on human agents would continue.

Meanwhile, Cantonment police claimed they had arrested four members of the two gangs of motorcycle-snatchers after a brief encounter and recovered scores of bikes from them here on Friday.

Cantonment DSP Shahid Hafeez said that a police party, led by the SHO, raided an outhouse and arrested accused Majid, Israr, Munir and Younas after the encounter.
