KARACHI: SHC notices AG, IGP in detention case


KARACHI, Dec 22: The Sindh High Court on Friday issued notices to Advocate General Sindh, IG police and Secretaries of Home Department and Ministry of Interior for December 26 on a petition against illegal detention of a businessman and his employee by the law-enforcement agencies.

Halima Begum stated that her son Mohammad Yousuf and his salesman Abdul Latif were taken by LEA officials from his sweet shop in Nazimabad on Dec 20.

Her counsel Khawaja Naveed Ahmed submitted the petitioner and her family members had been looking for both detainees at different police stations in Karachi and Roznamcha entry 43 was lodged at Gulbahar police station by Yousuf’s stepfather.

The court was prayed to direct respondents to produce the detainees and inform court if there were any charge against them.

SHC's division bench comprising Acting Chief Justice Sarmad Jalal Osmany and Justice Sajjad Ali Shah after preliminary hearing of petition issued notice to respondents for December 26 and called their comments.—PPI
