KARACHI, Dec 22: The registrar of the University of Karachi, Prof M Rais Alvi, on Friday said that the university and its affiliated colleges would remain closed on December 25 on account of birth anniversary of Quaid-i-Azam.
Four-year programme: The KU is introducing a four-year Bachelor of Studies (BS) programme in Psychology in evening shift from the ensuing academic session.
The chairman of KU’s psychology department, Dr Hyder Rizvi, has asked those interested in joining the course to submit admission forms latest by December 28. Admission forms are available with UBL branch at Main Silver Jubilee Gate of the varsity.
On Friday, the KU conducted its BSc, BCom and MSc examinations at different centres on the campus and at city colleges.
The acting controller of examination, Naeem Qureshi, said that overall attendance of candidates remained up to the mark and papers were held peacefully.
CHRISTIANS: There will a holiday for Christian employees of the KU on December 26 on account of Christmas, he added.
Meanwhile, preparations for the Christmas are in full swing with all shopping centres being crowded by customers, adds PPI.
Along with Muslims, who are busy shopping for upcoming Eidul Azha, Christians have been buying gifts and presents, as well as clothes, shoes and eatables. While the cattle markets set up outside the city limits, are crowded with Muslims buying sacrificial animals, the Christians have thronged bazaars and markets in Saddar and certain Christian-dominated localities. Churches and Christian’s houses and localities are seen decorated with illumination and buntings.
