LAHORE, Dec 21: Sri Lanka and Bangladesh entered the finals as Pakistan failed to make any headway on the second day of the 8th SAARC Golf Championship at Lahore Gymkhana course on Thursday.
Sri Lanka with two-day aggregate of 283 while one-stroke behind Bangla desh confirmed places in the final to be held on Friday.
Pakistan players did make some effort to regain some lost prestige. Though their performance on the second day was slightly better than on the first day, but Bangladesh and Sri Lankan rose to the occasion and excelled on the golf course, playing perfect game and producing performance substantially above the ordinary.
For Sri Lanka, Mithun Perera was the hero of the day, producing a birdie packed round of five-under-par-67. He registered birdies on holes 2nd,5th,7th,8th,11th,14th, and 15th. His round could have been far more excellent, had he not a double bogey at the 18th.
The other Sri Lankan K. Prabagran posted an equally good card of three-under-par-69 with birdies coming on holes 7th,11th and 16th without any stroke loss.
For Bangladesh, M. Sididkur Rehman again looking good with a four-under-68 and M. Milon Ahmed carded a par 72. For Milon Ahmed, a moment of joy came on the par-3, 17th hole which he did with one stroke.
The ladies of the host country, however, brought happy moments, as Mrs. Tahira Nazir and Jamila Jabbar won the team championship. Nepal team comprising Mrs. Sshstika Strestha and Mrs. Kesang Hama came second.
