Sri Lankan keeper undergoes surgery

WELLINGTON, Dec 21: Sri Lanka wicket-keeper Prasanna Jayawardene has undergone appendix surgery here and is due to return home from the tour of New Zealand over the weekend, New Zealand Press Association reported on Thursday.

He played both matches of the recent Test series, which was drawn 1-1, but was not part of the squad for two Twenty20 games and five One-day Internationals over the next three weeks.

Malinga Bandara and Ruchira Perera are due to join up with the one-day squad after completing a Sri Lanka ‘A’ tour of West Indies on Friday.—Reuters
